Breanna's Journey

Evangelism: building relationships, introducing people to community and sharing the gospel – Breanna’s Journey.

worship eventsGoal:

By 2014, the Diocese of Niagara’s parishes are strengthened by offering transformative worship experiences that make the Gospel message accessible to the wider world in ways that help people experience and engage God in their hearts, heads, bodies and souls.

Biblical Reference: Acts 2 – the birth of ‘the church’-  making the experience of God accessible to everyone

Indicators:

  • There is a broad consensus among laity and clergy that life changing worship is a shared goal,
  • The Diocese has developed tools and markers that aid clergy and laity in identifying when life changing worship is happening
  • By 2014, 30% of Niagara’s parishes have utilized feedback tools about the liturgy and have responded to areas that are identified as non-life giving
  • Worship at significant Diocesan events models life-changing worship of varying forms
  • A wide range of worship resources, technologies and forms are in active use
  • An extensive diocesan liturgy resource library is actively used, including frequent contributions to the growing body of creative, transformative liturgy.
  • Laity and clergy participate in workshops and conferences focused on life changing worship; within the Diocese and outside.

Missional Objectives:

  • Create one or more annual liturgy training events for laity and clergy
  • Encourage clergy & laity to participate in liturgy training events outside the Diocese
  • In response to the Bishop’s continuing permission to be creative in liturgy; develop guidelines and resources that will support parishes in their development of contextual, transformational worship
  • Develop a process for congregations to explore and discuss best practices in contextual, authentic worship, to include sharing ways in which other congregations/denominations have found success
  • Develop a guide/tool for parishes to use in exploring and developing their own liturgical practices
  • Provide and publicize a library of locally authorized liturgical materials
  • Publish articles on life changing worship on the website and in the Niagara Anglican on a regular basis
  • In 2012, recruit members for a diocesan worship team to develop life changing worship for significant diocesan events (Order of Niagara, confirmation, etc) on an ongoing basis
  • Develop guidelines for using copyrighted material and share with parishes
  • Create and publish a guide for parishes/leaders seeking to develop their comfort and competency with extemporaneous prayer
