133rd Synod of the Diocese of Niagara
Organizing Synod

New members of Synod were welcomed by the bishop (clergy, deacons, divinity students etc.) Guests of Synod were welcomed.
Privileges of the house were extended
Minutes of the 132 and 133rd Synods were approved.
Notices of Motion were addressed by Rob Welch
Memorials have been received - these are messages to synod received from groups in the diocese
Agenda Committee report was given by Mark Tiller. Movers and seconders will be given 6 minutes total. Speakers are given 2 minutes. New motions should be delivered to Rick Jones, Secretary of Synod. Agenda as presented was adopted.
Reports were received by the synod.
Appointments to diocesan court: Susan Little, Ian Smith,. Gill Tucker, Ven Lynne Corfiedl, Rev. Kevin Bothwell, Ven Bruce McPetrie and Chancellor Rob Welch

Reverend Joseph Asselin was elected as the representation to Trinity College

David Long spoke about Reducing the seasonal flu. He spoke about the need to wash hands. Polio was spread by microscopic particles of contaminated fecal matter! He demonstrated the need to wash hands in this matter and others. WE need to be responsible - the possibility is that millions of people in the world will die from an pandemic flu. In Canada thousands will die from seasonal flu this year.
- He suggested getting a flu shot.
- Ensure that communion assistants wash their hands.
- Make antibacterial hand clenasoer available to all parishoners.
- Intiction must be avoided as people will share everything on their hands with the rest of us.
- Stay away from work and church when you are ill. Wash hands thoroughly and frequently.
- Do not cough into your hands - cough into your sleeve.
Motion of Synod Council: Synod Council report be approved and all decisions made by council on synod's behalf be ratified and approved. Carried
