Our parishes are encouraged to review hygienic practices to prevent contagion

Recent media reports of the potential spread of the Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus bacterium (MRSA) in hospitals, daycare centers, and shelters for the homeless remind us all of the need to practice good hygiene and to ensure that diocesan protocols regarding intinction, the washing of the chalice, and the use of hand sanitizers are followed.

Some congregations have daycare centres or nursery schools operating within their church. Now is the time to ensure each program is following correct procedures regarding hygiene. Congregations may contact their local public health nurse for advice regarding the implementation of proper protocols specific to their situation.
