The Itinerant Churchgoer, Professor
Diocese of Niagara
Alan Hayes is honourary assistant priest at St. Simon's, Oakville, and a canon of Christ's Church Cathedral. He grew up in an interdenominational community church in the San Francisco Bay Area during the 1950s, dabbled in radical politics as an undergraduate in southern California in the 1960s, became an Anglican and studied church history at McGill University in the early 1970s, moved to Toronto in 1975, and settled in Oakville in 1987.
He is professor of church history at Wycliffe College and director of the Toronto School of Theology. He was ordained deacon by Archbishop Lewis Garnsworthy and priest by Bishop Arthur Brown. He is married to the Rev. Morar Murray-Hayes, a United Church pastor in Oakville; they have two beautiful and brilliant adult daughters, and one annoying and slow-witted white fuzzy dog. His hobbies include visiting churches, playing the piano, swimming, hiking easy trails, playing poor-quality tennis, traveling (preferably in France), and wine-tasting.
Your donation will help us thrust the Niagara Anglican into the future - communicating the Gospel and the good news of our Anglican tradition to generations to come.
