Michael Burslem

Michael Burslem

Michael Burslem is married to Ellen from Cairo, Egypt, and they are members of St. George's, Guelph, where they live.

Originally from the West Indies he lived in Iran and England before coming to Canada in 1951 to attend McGill, where he majored in mathematics. He's had a varied career.

He worked in Frobisher Bay, N.W.T., as a weather forecaster in Canada's far north; later, as ice forecaster; in winter on the east coast and in summer in the Arctic. He also trained for the Anglican ministry at King's College, Halifax, but was not ordained. He studied medicine at Dalhousie.

He practiced as a family doctor in Moncton, New Brunswick, before coming to the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph. He had a special interest in geriatrics, and went on three short term medical missions to Guatemala, for which he took Spanish and Parasitology (besides Astronomy and Italian) at the University of Guelph.

In retirement he enjoys reading, writing and rithmatic. He enjoys God's nature and writes for the Niagara Anglican and the Arab West Report. He's most interested in building bridges between Christians and those of other faiths, or of no faith at all.
