Hands Across Niagara
Through the prayers and generosity of Anglicans in the Diocese of Niagara, Hands Across Niagara supports our ability to engage God’s mission throughout our diocese and beyond as we live out our baptism by committing to justice and servant ministries.
This is how your donation will be used:
- One-third will support ministries of the Anglican Church of Canada, including the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Indigenous Healing Fund, the Council of the North, and international partners such as Cuba.
- One-third will be used by the Diocese to fund grants for groups proposing ministries that address the root causes of injustice while also working in one of these areas of ministry: enhancing food security, enabling safe and affordable housing, renewing and sustaining the earth, and supporting children and youth.
- One-third will go directly to your home parish to support justice and servant work in the local community.
We encourage you to tell the story about new ways your congregation will be able to engage their neighbourhoods when members respond generously to Hands Across Niagara. Since one-third of each gift to this program returns to the donor’s home church, there is a real opportunity to listen together for God’s call to local outreach.
There is also good news to tell about the ministry projects that received funding in the first round of Hands Across Niagara grants. The committee evaluating grant applications were looking for projects that included a strong partnership with agencies and advocates in the community, they required applicants to identify a strategy for addressing the root causes of injustice through their work, and they required the projects to address at least one of the four areas of ministry: enhancing food security, enabling safe and affordable housing, renewing and sustaining the earth, and supporting children and youth. These grants are just one of the many ways your prayers and generosity have enabled ministry. Of course, in order to continue supporting exciting initiatives such as these and justice and servant ministries through your own church, we need your continued support. Please give generously to support this year’s Hands Across Niagara campaign.
