Making a difference in Jesus’ name
through justice and servant ministries
at home and around the world”

ministries of the Anglican Church of Canada.  For more information, please download our brochure by clicking the link to the right.

Grant Applications NOW Available

Application forms for Hands Across Niagara grants are now available! At this early stage in the program we will be awarding seed grants of up to $1000. We encourage parishes to begin assessing whether projects they are planning might be eligible for inclusion in our first granting cycle. If you have questions regarding the grants process, please contact the Reverend Bill Mous, Coordinator of Social Justice at 905-527-1316 ext. 330 or click here to send an email.

As you plan and discern it may be helpful to know a little of what will be included in the application process. Projects eligible for grants will fall into the one of the four following areas of ministry: Food and Hunger, or Children, or Affordable Housing, or Eco-Justice.

Partnership

Applicants will be asked to partner with an organization from outside their parish. This may be another congregation, a local serving agency, or a group engaged in advocacy or activism. An agreement to share resources or expertise with a community partner is intended to lend sustainability to our ministry projects and deepen our connections with the neighbourhoods where we do ministry.

As part of the application parishes will be asked to explain how they discerned the needs of their community. Maybe your congregation has a relationship with an organization that is connected to the needs of the people they serve, or maybe you have an ongoing process for gathering stories from people who access supportive services in your area – we want to know how you decided upon the shape of your project.

Prophetic Social Justice Making

Our congregations are usually very good at charity. That is to say, we are skilled at making tangible expressions of our love as we respond to the immediate, physical needs of our neighbours. More and more in Niagara, we are realizing that the gospel and the promises of our baptism are calling us to something more. Our diocesan vision identifies this additional element as Prophetic Social Justice Making. Successful applications for Hands Across Niagara grants will include charitable and justice making components in their ministry plans.

Our diocesan website offers an easy and secure way to make a donation to Hands Across Niagara. Simply click the ‘donate now’ link in the menu to the right of this page (or click here!). Your donation will make it possible for your parish, our diocese, and our national church to respond in faith to God’s call to mission.
