GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
- To provide a program of instruction related to faith issues for lay people.
- To enhance the participants understanding of their faith so that they might grow in their commitment to Christ and the church.
The Bishop's diploma is a general interest course. It is not intended as a short theological course on the seminary or university level.
THE BISHOP'S DIPLOMA
Anyone who is interested may attend the course. For those who wish to obtain the Bishop's Diploma, the requirements are as follows:
- Regular attendance at the instruction sessions covering any six courses;
- Willingness to explore additional material for extra reading and study; and
- Attendance at a diocesan Bishop's Diploma Course gathering at least once during the period of instruction.
SUBJECTS
Each year there will be two, eight-week terms, one starting in September/October and one in January/February. BDC offers the following courses: Ethics, Liturgy, New Testament, History, Spirituality, World Religions, Anglicanism and Old Testament.
CENTRES
The Bishop's Diploma Course will be offered at various centres throughout the diocese.
FEES
The registration fee per course is $35 (includes eight sessions plus text). For a couple sharing one textbook the fee is $45
